Author Update

I’ve got some updates to share about my ongoing projects—thank you so much for your support and patience as these stories come to life!

First, Riley’s Perfect Purpose: The publishing date has been pushed from Thanksgiving due to quality concerns, but the next (and hopefully final!) proof is on its way. We’re aiming to publish just in time for anyone looking to gift this sweet, heartfelt story to a young child for Christmas. It’s a gentle reminder to all of us that we have an important purpose and a place where we belong.

Second, Heart Box Amulet: We’ve officially made it to Chapter Four! This online series is really heating up, and it’s been a joy to explore the story from Rhett’s perspective—the charming gunslinger we all can’t get enough of. If you’re following along, I hope you’re enjoying every twist and turn!

Finally, for Blood of the Forgotten: While this paranormal urban fantasy romance is still undergoing extensive edits to make it as gripping as possible, I’ve got some fun news to share. Fabulous bookmarks are on their way! I’ll be doing giveaways in the near future, and winners will receive a book of their choice, some bookish goodies, and a gorgeous bookmark. Stay tuned for more details, and don’t forget to follow me on social media so you don’t miss your chance to win!

Thanks for being part of this journey with me—I can’t wait to share these stories with you.

Spotlight and Scribbles

This month, we have author Emily Davis in the spotlight, promoting her book Guardians and Keepers of Myth!!

Find Author Emily Davis and Guardians and Keepers of Myth here:

In this cozy high fantasy novel, Emily Davis paints a picture of Earth before mankind’s history began. Back when it was called Hiraeth and how this golden era of Man and Magic fell into what man remembers as The Dark Ages. For those who love a good fiction story of self-discovery, trust lost and earned, the importance of family, and finding Magic in the most unexpected places.

Follow Fable, an Elven Potion Maker looking to make her own way in the village of Darnassea, hidden away in the distant lands of Myth. She and her Fox Drake, Ashling, soon discover that the Darkness that fell over Hiraeth is knocking on Myth’s door. In hopes of preventing this, Fable commits an unspoken taboo that’s loomed over the elves for generations. Return to the Ruins of Hiraeth to find a human for help.

Brendan and Nick have been friends since high school, and with college finals coming up, what better way to prepare than a weekend in the Colorado mountains? That was the plan, at least, until Brendan runs into a flesh and blood elf on a morning run. Since then, a new light has shown in their lives. But with light comes shadows. And this shadow has been waiting a long time to return.

What would your characters' group chat look like? Who’s sending memes, who’s typing long paragraphs, and who’s suspiciously silent?

This one made me giggle. Let's see.

Fable, the Main character, would be the one sharing recipes with the group, and any time someone had an ailment, she’d be the first with an herbal remedy to help.

Brendan, the Hero, would be the meme guy. He likes to make people laugh, and memes would be his go-to.

Creek, the sidekick, would be the one to ask when everyone’s getting together to hang out and suggest sweet shops.

Nicolas, the Anti Hero, would be the one reacting with Emojis, often an eye roll or a lol at Brendan since they’ve been friends for years.

Kyrie, the Group’s Gandalf, would be the group's dad. He’s sending the Dad jokes and reminders to the ‘kids’

And lastly, Atrix, the Villain. He’d be the one that's quiet in the group until addressed. Or he’d be cryptic in his replies or lightly passive-aggressive.

What’s the strangest or funniest thing you’ve Googled for research?

Mostly I had to look up words because I’m dyslexic. However, for me, I’d say the strangest thing I had to look up was “What method of cannabis affects the body the fastest?” for a plot point in my second book. And for about a week, my feed had been full of Cannabis suggestions and places where I could get it. I don’t do any sort of drug since it might affect my pets, but I got side eyes from my sister several times. XD

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to your younger writer self?

“Mrs. Gebheart was 100% wrong. Yeah, you’re dyslexic, but honestly, that makes words funny in the end. There’s a whole world and an entire story that only you can see, and only you can share that world. Every book is like those books in Myst. Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t just because they couldn’t. And you Prove them Wrong."

Snack Attack!

Forget the greasy chips—this is the ultimate page-turning snack that won’t smudge your precious books or keyboard! Grab some air-popped popcorn (light and fluffy, just like your favorite rom-com), toss in a handful of dark chocolate chips (for the drama), roasted almonds (for that plot twist crunch), and dried cranberries (for the bittersweet undertones).

Bonus? It’s one-handed, so you can keep typing or flipping pages without missing a beat. Plus, it’s healthy enough to convince yourself that "just one more chapter" might as well mean "just one more handful."

Because it needed to spruce up! 🎄✨

Writer’s Wisdom

Want to level up your writing? Study the authors you love most. Ask yourself why their stories stick with you—Is it their dialogue? Their world-building? The way they make you feel every emotion in the book?

Don’t just read their work—dissect it. Highlight passages that move you, analyze their sentence structure, and take notes on how they build tension or reveal character. The goal isn’t to copy them, but to understand what makes their style unique so you can refine your own voice.

Remember: even the masters were once beginners who learned from others. The more you study, the more your writing will evolve into something truly your own.

Verses and Victories

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."—Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

This verse is a powerful reminder that no matter what challenges we face, God has a plan for our lives. His plans are not meant to harm us but to guide us toward a future filled with hope and purpose. Even when the path seems uncertain, this verse encourages us to trust in His promise that better days are ahead. It’s a call to hold on to hope, knowing that we are never walking alone. So, whatever you are facing this season, take heart. The best is yet to come!
